As a food reviewer for Foodjoyy, I'm thrilled to introduce you to a restaurant that has captured the hearts of many, not just for its stunningly curated menu but also for its inviting atmosphere. The ambiance strikes a sweet balance between intimacy and community, making it ideal for any occasion, from casual dinners to special celebrations.
One can't help but be captivated by the diverse menu at Chao Phya. Begin your dining experience with delightful Pupus, such as the light and crispy Vegetarian Spring Rolls or the richly marinated Chicken Satay, accompanied by a delicious peanut sauce. These starter dishes are not simply appetizers; they reflect the meticulous craftsmanship and use of fresh ingredients that each chef pours into their creation.
Moving into the salad selection, the CPT House Salad stands out with its refreshing cucumber and coconut dressing that enlivens the palate. The Papaya Salad is another highlight that tantalizes with a savory blend of flavors crafted with fresh green papaya and a spicy garlic lime sauce.
For those seeking heartier fare, the Mother's Day menu features enticing entrees like the Golden Mountain Seared Scallops and the extravagant Pommery Mustard Honey Glazed King Salmon, proving that every dish is a work of art in both presentation and taste. Patrons rave about the garlic seafood medley and gently stuffed chicken wings, showcasing the restaurant's commitment to flavor.
Customers' experiences confirm the restaurant's charm. Clark Clark mentioned enjoying a "stunning dining experience" where the spring rolls were "light, delicious, and unlike anything" he had previously tasted. Rachel Hilpert praised the personal touch from the chef, enhancing her dining experience with locally sourced and freshly selected ingredients.
Chao Phya Thai Restaurant embraces the essence of Thai cuisine while presenting it uniquely, and testimonials reflect a satisfied clientele. As Jennifer Newbauer puts it, "5 stars all the way!" This acknowledgment speaks to the restaurant’s standard of excellence, from the friendly service to the flavorful dishes, including a unique spice level that leaves diners eagerly returning for more.

“ Stunning dining experience. Superb, friendly service that feels like you’re eating with friends at their home. Beautifully decorated. Just the right spacing - you feel both intimacy and community. The fresh watermelon juice was perfect on a warm day. We ordered spring rolls that were light, delicious, and unlike anything we’d had before. For the entree we enjoyed mung bean noodles and Thai red curry. Both were superb. On an island known for amazing restaurants, Chao Phya Thai manages to land at the top of our list of favorites. Well done and thank you! ”
“ We love coming here for a casual dinner or a special occasion. The food is fresh and local and hand selected by the chef. He comes out to visit with the clients and since he knows us gives a personal touch to our meal. We have never left hungry or disappointed. We recently celebrated my husbands birthday and he said his meal was the best he ever had. It is delicious and beautifully presented. The staff is very attentive and generous. We love this restaurant! ”
“ This place is so delicious. Our family of 5 decided to check it out. Everyone picked something different. We allowed each other to try our picks. There wasn’t a dish that wasn’t delicious. The staff was super nice and friendly too. We really enjoyed coming in today and will be back. ”
“ My goodness, this is a fabulous Thai food restaurant in Kailua. Can it be? It is hidden, I have driven by there so often and drove right by. The garlic Seafood Medley is must try, stuffed chicken wings, the Patties were great. ”
“ 5 stars all the way! From the moment we arrived, we were treated as valuable and welcomed guests. Before we were seated, we had the opportunity to learn about and see the evenings specials. Our server was funny and attentive and gave great recommendations. All four of us enjoyed everything we ate and will definitely be back. This was worth the drive away from Waikiki. If you like hot, definitely go a heat level higher than you are used to, the heat was a bit mild (though they did bring some sauce on the side for us to add). ”
“ Seriously the most delicious authentic tasty Thai food I have had in my life. I am vegan and the chef made the best curries and Thom kha soup. The Mung bean noodle with Garlic tofu is the best. Can’t wait to Come back. Also the owner Mina is a delight. ”
“ My mom and I stopped here after running some errands, and we were pleasantly surprised! The waiter was open, friendly, and had us cracking up through our meal. The food was delicious, and each of the entrees were big enough to share. The owner got us to try a pumpkin gelato special for dessert, and I was blown away! I definitely recommend this! ”
“ I will start off this review by stating that although I eat out 5 or 6 night a week, I am not a Thai food aficionado. I do love good food and good service and I got both here from Chef Guy and Chef Paul at Chao Phyu Thai Restaurant in the Windward City Shopping Mall. With that said, the food at Chao Phyu Thai Restaurant is AMAZING! The newly redecorated place is very clean and comfortable for a single, a couple or a large party. The walls and decorations in the place make you feel like you are invited to the Chefs house for a personal meal. I came in on a weekday for a business lunch and was greeted by Chef Guy and he sat with us and took the time to talk story and get to know us. He suggested a few menu items and set us up with some drinks. This was a business casual lunch, so we only had tea and water, however they do allow BYOB and encourage you to bring your own wine or a cooler for the gang. We started off with the red curry soup and a double order of Thai Crispy Spring Rolls. Next up was a generous platter of Chicken Pad Thai Then came the main course of Seared Scallops on a bed of Indian noodles cooked to perfection. Along with that is the imported King Salmon; we ordered the salmon to share which came with a generous side salad and served on top of a bed of couscous so tender and buttery. This fish just falls into your mouth and is so delicious. Also, in the main course was the giant sauteed clams in a curry soup broth. My favorite was the Scallops, and I recommend this place!! Most entrees are served with a fresh salad, and generally are loaded down with vegetables. The portions are huge, and everything is made fresh to order. What sets them apart is the brilliant balancing of flavors. Sweet, acid, heat, sours, bitter and fragrant aromatics... nothing too 'spicy'... take for example the pad Thai I am used to pad Thai that is coated in some slippery sweet peanut sauce... here the peanuts are served on the side (delicious) and the flavors of the pad Thai without the peanut sauce is simply irresistible. This restaurant is in the Windward City Shopping Mall, next to Starbucks and facing Kamehameha Hwy in Kaneohe and is easy to see from a moving car. Pop by for a quick visit, look at the menu and pictures on the walls, then order the best Thai Meal you have had in Hawaii.
